Little Saints and Demons Ferretry was started in 2007 with the assistance of Fire Storm Ferrets in Columbus, OH. I have owned ferrets since 2001. My very first ferret was an albino boy named Kluso. He was a Mother's Day/Birthday present from my mother. About a month later I adopted a 5 year old ferret from a friend for my daughter named Twirly. We ended up losing her to shelter shock after lots of visits to the vet. I had never heard of it before. My daughter and I were crushed. A few weeks later my daughter and I went to a pet store just to look. We were still so hurt over losing Twirly that my daughter didn't want another ferret at that point. Little did we know that Pixie would end up choosing my daughter and home she came. Kluso got a cagemate.
About 6 months later a friend and I were in the pet store to get food for the fuzzies and I saw this beautiful chocolate boy. I didn't bring him home even though I wanted to. I figured two was plenty for the time being. One day while I was at work my friend went and bought him as a surprise. I had come home from work looking for Pixie because she came up missing. Long story short, I was going thru the cage and thought I had grabbed the same ferret twice. It was definately a different one. His name was Torin after my future husband. Yes, Pixie was found healthy and safe. Decided to take an adventure. She was forever doing something.
My daughter and I then moved to Indiana in 2002 along with the three fuzzies. My husband and I got married about 6 months later. The apartment complex manager knew I had ferrets and asked me if I would be interested in another. I said sure. So along came Pauly. My heart still breaks
everyday when I think of what this poor little boy went thru before he got to me. He was adrenal and insulonomic when I got him. He was balding, being fed very poor food and being sprayed because they didn't like his odor.
We had him for about 6 months and he was very well loved. We lost him 2 days after surgery. I still cry when I think of him. He was one of the most wonderful ferrets
we have ever owned.
Archie and Sparky cane along during that time. They were also rescues. My husband sat me down during the time that Pauly was still alive and said "I think we need to look at getting you a private bred ferret."
Along comes Louise, our very first private bred ferret. She was a retiree.
We really didn't want a baby at that point. The breeder that she
came from was telling me about ferret shows. Needless to say, I thought this was about the coolest thing ever. I went to my first ferret show and
saw FSF's Stormy Weather and Samuel Adams. It was love at first site. I had to eventually have one.
As it turned out in 2004, I got my first baby in 3 years and he was a Fire Storm. My Ozzy. I love this ferret to no end. While I was out picking up Ozzy, I met the rest of the Fire Storm crew.
We are now owned by Smudge, Lulu Bell, Caylx (daughter's), Brogan, Doogie, Sehla, Tia, Kipsy, Mayhem, Sonya, Enya, Otter B, Eli and Emmy.
Breeding was the natural course of things to come. Kay and I talked
extensively about the new challenge. I chose to start this year
because I have some really wonderful ferrets that are championship
potential. The kits are not able to leave home until they are at minimum of
10 weeks
old preferably older.
I am currently still showing and a member of the AFA (American Ferret Association). I am striving to become a judge for the AFA as well.
